Our Guide to Ao Nang, Krabi
|
|
Originally a quaint little fishing village, Ao Nang over
recent years has seen a steady growth of foreign faces
and modernization yet still retains its Thai charm of
yester-years. Today, Ao Nang stands alone as the main
tourist hub of southern Thailand with a wide range of
restaurants, travel/tour agencies and is the perfect
base for exploring the neighboring islands. Below for
your reading pleasure is a short guide to the place we
love to call our home…. |
Getting Around Ao Nang
|
|
Orienting yourself in Ao Nang is easy: almost everything
is located either along the beach, which runs west-east,
or along the Airport Road (Highway 4203) which leads up
north from the east end of the beach.
Krabi International Airport is about 40 minutes away
from Ao Nang by taxi and will cost around 500 Thai Baht.
Local shuttle buses (Songthaews) — run from Ao
Nang to Krabi (40 THB) and from Krabi to the airport (50
THB). In addition there is now a big bus service from
the airport to Ao Nang, via Krabi Town and Noppharat
Thara beach. |

In addition to Ao Nang beach and Noppharat Thara, the
beaches of Railay and Tonsai are accessible by longtail
boat within 10 minutes, while the less developed Had Yao
(Long Beach) is 25 minutes.
Boats leave continuously throughout the day from the
east end of the beach and charge a flat rate of 80
baht/person during the day, 100 baht/person at night
(after 18:00 hrs).

Koh Lanta (usually twice daily). |
